#CURRENT MARTIN GUITAR SERIAL NUMBERS SERIAL NUMBER#
This is a new instrument and is sold with a full manufacturer’s warranty. Whereas Martin guitars have been using a single, consistent numbering system since the 19th century, Gibson has used several different serial number formats since its inception in 1902, meaning that some formats and numbers overlap across decades. In addition, my guitar is hand signed on the backstrip by C.F. The serial number now consists of 9 digits, the first 2 of which indicate the year and the next 7 digits the sequence number. 0 - A guitar with a number ending in 0 will be a 14-Fret Dreadnought sized instrument (BR-40, BR-260, etc. The last digit of a Blueridge model number will designate what body size a guitar has. These 150 guitars have a white elliptical label on the inside back of the guitar (see photo) and they are sequentially number 1 of 150, 2 of 150, etc… My guitar is number 46 of this set of 150 guitars. A three digit number (XXX) means that the guitar has a solid Spruce top, and solid back/sides. There are no two identical models since they were all Custom Shop models.
These 150 guitars are the “official” Anniversary Year Martin instruments. To celebrate their 150 th Anniversary Martin decided to offer 150 Custom Shop Anniversary guitars.
These instruments are not the “official” 150 th anniversary Martins, they are standard production guitars with a woodburn mark. This stamp was applied to all instruments produced by Martin in 1983. History of this instrument: In 1983 Martin stamped the inner back strip of their instruments with a “wood burn” that reads 150 th anniversary.
